Higuain’s memorable goal against Espanyol in 2007. Real had to win the game to have any chance of winning La Liga. At 3-3 in the 89th minute, all looked lost until Higuain’s persistence earned him this goal. Real went on to end their 4-year trophy drought, and Higuain forever endeared himself to Real fans.
Another classic goal from 2006-7, this time from Ruud Van Nistelrooy. RVN started off the move at the halfway line before finishing it with a spectacular volley after a series of one-touch passes involving Higuain, Momo Diarra, Robinho, Gago and Miguel Torres.
R9’s incredible goal just 14 seconds into the Madrid derby. Just phenomenal.
Zidane scoring off an unreal assist from Guti. Guti was certainly temperamental and inconsistent, but when on top of his game he was pure genius. This is certainly the best assist I have ever seen.
Zidane’s winning goal in the 2002 Champions League final. Enough said.
Casillas’ miracle save against Sevilla.
CR7’s fantastic freekick goal against Villareal.
Raul’s winning goal in the 2000 Champions League final. A blazing counter-attack left Raul one-on-one with Valencia GK Canizares.. at the halfway line. Raul proceeded to round Canizares and audaciously wait for the backtracking defender to slide into the net before scoring behind him.
Zidane’s mindblowing goal against Deportivo. One of the best goals of all time.
The goal that made Xavi cry. This fantastic counter-attacking move proved that direct, vertical football can be truly spectacular to watch, and that tiki-taka isn’t the only attractive form of attacking football.
