Ex-Madridistas score spectacular goals in Round 7 of La Liga

Jornada 7 saw three ex-Madridistas score golazos, two of which came in the Malaga vs. Getafe game. Pedro Leon opened the scoring in the game with a ridiculous volley from distance:

The game was tied 2-2 until late on, when Julio “The Beast” Baptista grabbed the winner with this spectacular overhead kick:

Meanwhile, Sergio Canales grabbed the only goal in Valencia’s 1-0 victory over Granada with this spanking low shot from outside the area.

While it’s safe to say that Pedro Leon and Baptista are firmly consigned in Real’s past, Canales is only on loan at Valencia so we may well see him score golazos like that wearing a different white jersey.

Meanwhile, another former Madridista Ruud van Nistelrooy also grabbed a goal for Malaga against Getafe. While hardly a golazo, the goal showed just how great a penalty-box striker Ruud is, as he managed to head in the ball despite the attentions of three defenders and the goalkeeper, before wheeling off in a classic RvN celebration, the likes of which the Bernabeu has seen countless times. Ruud was of course quite close to joining Real on loan in January but Hamburg were unwilling to let him go so Real had to settle for Adebayor. If it were up to me I’d bring Ruud back in an instant despite his age and injury worries.

The buildup and finish to the Canales goal was proper, while RVN scored a Suarez-type goal. Good stuff

Now give us Higuain, and you’ll be making articles like this every week…
